They were active members of Holy Trinity Church in Jericho and the children attended Holy Trinity School. When the parish built a new rectory around 1899, they bought and moved the old rectory to the farm for their growing family. It still stands there today (1975) with some changes.
After their children were grown they retired to St. Cloud, Fond du Lac County, WI. They resided in a home across the road from the Catholic Church. Carl kept busy with shoe repairing.
