Mrs. Joseph Keuler, 81, of the town of Chilton, died at Calumet Memorial Hospital Sunday evening after an illness of three months. She had been a patient at the hospital since Friday. A native of Ozaukee County, Mrs. Keuler was born in the town of Belgium May 8, 1875, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Meyers. When she was nine years old, the family moved to Charlesburg, Calumet County, and she attended St. Charles School there. She was married to Mr. Keuler at the St. Charles Church May 11, 1897, and the couple operated a farm thereafter in the town of Chilton. After Mr. Keuler's death March 20, 1944, Mrs. Keuler continued to make her home on the farm with a son, Reuben. She was a member of St. Mary's Church at Chilton and a member of the Christian Mothers Society. Mrs. Keuler leaves four daughters, Sister M. Niceta, O.S.F., at Sacred Heart Sanatorium, Milwaukee, Sister M. Mr. Keuler died Saturday, May 23, 1981, at Calumet Homestead. He was born Oct. 10, 1899, in Chilton, a son of Joseph and Anna Meyers Keuler. He later owned and operated a trucking company in Calumet County and was employed as a custodian at St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a member of the church and its Holy Name Society. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Herman (Margaret) Selk of New Hostein, [Living], Sister Niceta and Sister Cleta, both of Campbellsport, and two brothers, Leo of Charlesburg and Reuben of Chilton. He was preceded in death by seven brothers.

He was the first Mount Calvary resident to leave for World War I and served with the Army in France as a buglar in the artillery division. He operated the Anton Keuler Motel at Mount Calvary until 1945. He was employed by William Thummer Implement dealership as a tractor mechanic for 20 years. Mr. Keuler was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church at Mount Calvary, Fond du Lac Chapter of World War I Veterans and Abler-Engel American Legion Post of Mount Calvary. Survivors include a daughter, two sons, six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Miss Erna Keuler of Mount Calvary. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1978, and by a daughter, brother and sister. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Huss Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Mount Calvary. The Rev.
