Obituary from The Platteville Journal of June 13, 2007:
In Loving Memory of David Rukashaza
David Rukashaza, 65, went to rest in the Lord’s presence on Monday, May 28, 2007. He will be remembered by all the people he counseled and supported in reaching their goals. His funeral was held at the Free Methodist Church, Platteville, on June 2, 2007. The celebrants were Pastor Steve Borwick of Platteville, Pastor John Gakwaya of Dayton, Ohio, and Pastor Samuel Nsengiyumva of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.
David was born January 12, 1942 in Byumba, Rwanda, the son of the late Samuel Bazirushaka and Helisi Ntiryica. After teaching in Rwanda, he received a scholarship to study in the United States. He graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering in November 1968 as an electrical engineer. David and [Living] were joined in marriage on January 11, 1969. They returned to Rwanda that year and for 25 years he worked for and helped develop the growth of the national utilities company. David has encouraged hundreds of young people to continue their education and expand their dreams.
When war broke out in Rwanda in 1994, David assured that his family left safely, but stayed behind to take care of and help more than 70 friends in need. After he came to be with his family in Platteville, Wisconsin, he continued to work hard at any job and was able to purchase a home and make sure his family was established and their futures were secured. Despite health difficulties, he has continued to work hard, garden, laugh and encourage people to do the right things. He never complained and was cheerful to everyone around him.
David is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Rosa, his brother Simon and his sister Mari. He is survived by . . . . A memorial fund has been established for him with the National Transplant Assistance Fund and with the University of Chicago Liver Research Fund.

Obituary in the Victoria Times Colonist (Victoria, British
Columbia, Canada)
SELK, Jim: July 5, 1949 - August 2, 2009
With love and deep sorrow we announce the untimely passing of James Leo Selk. Jim to most, Woody to his co-workers at BDL, Jimmer to those who loved him dearly, he died the way he had lived, peacefully and with dignity. Born and raised in New Holstein, Wisconsin, Jim moved to Victoria at the height of the Vietnam War and truly found his home. He joined the Brewery, Winery and Distillery Workers Local 300 early on and worked as a member of the union in a variety of jobs until his death, As well as being a committed unionist, Jim was also dedicated to community, serving as president of the Victoria Folk Music Society for over twenty years. Although he was a gifted musician himself, he rarely played outside the comfort of his own home, preferring instead to support the performance of others. Another of Jim’s passions was photography, especially in nature, an art he had pursued beginning in his youth, and he also became very adept with computer technology. A dedicated Mac man, he shared generously of his skills with those less knowledgeable, but was always admonishing us to read the manual! Over the years he had also grown to be a gourmet cook, treating family and friends to many delicious meals, on special occasions or just because. Jim leaves to mourn his passing a world of friends, a devoted family, and his beloved, [living]. A celebration of his life will be held 4 8pm on Labour Day, September 7, at Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue. Flowers and cards are gratefully declined. If you wish, please make a donation in Jim’s memory to Our Place Society or to a cause important to you.
An obituary was also placed in The Sheboygan Press, August 13, 2009 with some additional information.
